This Sunday afternoon spotlight takes a deep look into hip-hop rising star and rapper Hopsin.  Hopsin released his first single in 2008 and first studio album in 2009.  He began gaining traction in the hip hop world with his release of "Sag My Pants" in 2010, and took off after putting out such hits as "Nocturnal Rainbows" and "Ill Mind of Hopsin 4."  On top of his musical successes, he may be most notorious for his eerie, all-white contact lenses and shaved eyebrows.  His aggressive lyrics and unconventional appearance may be a form of self-expression, or a facade to hide his inadequacies as an underground hip hop artist.

Someone once asked me who would be on the Mount Rushmore of hip-hop and it surprised me just how hard it was to think of it. There are so many people who’ve made such huge contributions, and it’s hard to just pick four. So, as I tried to think of 4 people, I started breaking it down into categories in order make things easier: pioneers, MC’s, producers, my own favorites, and the all-time greats.

Now if there's one thing that I can be sure of, its that Dirtybird Records have been very much in control of my life over the last few months. The San Francisco based, tech funk, record company seem to be churning out incredible tune after incredible tune without fail, providing me with almost all the music I need. Before I can continue can I please recommend to any of you who haven't heard any of Dirtybird's releases, to go and do so immediately.
