If Mozart, RL Grime, Porter Robinson, Andy Warhol and Hayao Miyazaki Walked Into a Bar: Jacuzzi's "Exodus" (Produced by Karborn) [MUST WATCH]

It seems Jacuzzi is back and with quite the exciting news after completely taking over Hype Machine last month with his remix of Santigold's "Disparate Youth." Earlier this week, not only did he announce the release of his Mizu EP set for December 8th, but yesterday the Hawaiian also teased us with the official video of "Exodus."

Teaming up with with the visual craftsman, Karborn on the first song of the EP, the two double team our minds in what I can say is the most exciting music video to hit the Internet in a LONG time. This visually and acoustic stimulating 4 minute roller coaster is just what the doctor ordered before you all go to sleep. So break out some pop corn, find a nice place to sit, and get ready to enjoy this orchestral and trap filled, NSFW, anime and post-modern masterpiece.

Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.D. city: One Year Later

One year ago today, Kendrick Lamar dropped his second studio album good kid, m.A.A.D. city and was catapulted to fame. The promising young rapper had been a presence for years, known for his unconventional voice, highly technical flow, and a propensity to murder industry beats. But with the release of GKMC, Lamar reached a new echelon of success and the question of whether his new album was an instant classic became the focus of thousands of reviews, thinkpieces, and barbershop discussions. Today I'd like to share my review of the record that was published last year around the time of its release. Read it below in its entirety.

Will Sparks Brings Melbourne Bounce to Philadelphia

On August 1st, our boisterous team of rave bandits took to Whisper, a club set in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia, to catch the king of Melbourne sound in action on his first stop of his United States tour. Mind you, this was the first time ever that Will Sparks has been stateside for a show. Like, ever. You can imagine our excitement when we learned that Philly was the kickoff to the whole thing. Seemed only fitting that the City of Brotherly Love was bringing in a fellow producer bro to America, and thanks to the amazing work of our friends over at East Side Electro, this was finally realized.

BiggDogg's Top 5 Most Ignorant Rappers

Seven years ago, Nas released a record called Hip Hop Is Dead. Many hip-hop die-hards, including my colleague Reuben Friedman, hold the same opinion and I agree for the most part. However, with the recent mainstream success of Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore and the emergence of young bucks like Joey Bada$$, things seem to be looking up. To me, the state of hip-hop is like the U.S. economy: things aren’t that great right now, but they sure as hell are better than the way they were five years ago. But in order for hip-hop to reach that same level that it was 15-20 years ago, there are certain people who need to change their ways or just disappear all together. Now, if there’s one thing in this world that I absolutely hate with every ounce of my being, it’s ignorance. And as an African-American, nothing pisses me off more than grown-ass black men being ignorant, so this issue is one of personal importance for me.
