This isn't the first time XAVAGE and DARKMARK made a song together, and on their Q&A with Partica Artist Group on Discord, we learned the frequent collaborators' work goes far beyond music. Following the success of their previous two singles, "If You Need Me, Don't" and "In The Trap," XAVAGE and DARKMARK are back again with their newest tune, "Damage."
XAVAGE gives insight into their perfect partnership saying, "Every time we get into the studio together the ideas just start pouring out. DARKMARK’s unique rap style and my signature trap production create the perfect pairing. Fun fact: We went to Icon Collective together and would regularly stay in the studios until they kicked us out at 2am.”
In seamless alliance, the two artists mix electronic and hip-hop to create a hard-hitting trap track with “Damage.” The song creates tension through its bombastic basslines, dynamic drums, and braggadocious bars.
DARKMARK divulges, "The song feels and reads as a triumphant record which I enjoy, however, the underlying message when I was writing it out spoke to the EGO and how our egos are our biggest critics and haters. As humans, we deal with a lot of internal conflicts and this song speaks to eliminating the hater from within. What's enjoyable about the record in my opinion is that you can hear me having that egoic conversation with myself in the verses. I find beauty in that inner turmoil because it's what makes us unique as individuals.”
To top things off, the musicians ideated a fully animated music video—à la Boondocks—that excellently displays why this is going to be the festival anthem of 2022.
