After throwing countless, unforgettable events all around New York City for years, Verboten has finally opened its own permanent venue...and you best believe it's every bit as incredible as we all thought it would be.
I arrived at the club early for the champagne reception to welcome in Matthew Dear’s residency and immediately noticed how friendly the staff was. Asking the location of the coat check cued that it was our first time there, they eagerly gave us a rundown of all of the club's features: A main dance area and side cabernet room each with their own full bar and amazing sound system.
Last night @VerbotenNewYork was nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone involved. #Subversions pic.twitter.com/K7r5SGaFOt

Tim Sweeney opened up the night with a two-hour set that started off low-key but transformed into a great house/disco showcase during the second half. The real treat was Matthew Dear’s set as Audion. Verboten’s amazing lighting and sound system headed by a huge hypnotizing disco ball came to life as his pulsating techno sound kept the energy levels peaking. The dance floor got pretty packed but Verboten placed speakers throughout the main room so one can get a great audio experience even back by the bar where it is less crowded.
The second room had tons of seating and ample dancing space to groove to some exceptional local talent and the bathrooms were clean and modern and even featured a one-way window to look out to the dance floor!
Overall, it was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to come back. Watch out Output, you’ve got some competition now!
