Nicky Romero has hit out at "rich dads" that "pay producers tons of money" to make their sons successful DJ/producers. In an interview with Fuse, the World No. 7 DJ said that some DJs featured in DJ Mag don't even know how to use the software required to make a song.
Romero explains how he has ghost produced for the likes of Britney and Rihanna and is currently working on four songs for David Guetta's new album. But this is not what he has a problem with. He states "what I really don't like and what I really don't respect and support is guys that go over email to producers and say, ‘Hey, I wanna have a record and it must sound like this’ and they are not involved at all. There are a lot of DJs that do that".
He thinks that this approach makes a mockery of his art form explaining that the time and effort 'real' producers put into "making the sounds, making arrangements, finding the chords and everything" makes it "insane" to receive an email saying 'I'm gonna pay you a certain amount of money and I wanna have a song'. And apparently this happens all the time.
Watch the video at the bottom proving Nicky Romero doesn't use ghost producers. Of course we all know he doesn't but maybe Madeon needed a little reminder:
@nickyromero Exactly ! Spend 100k on a ghost producer instead.
