Our favorite clerical collar wearing, nu-disco future house wizard, TCHAMI, has announced an impromptu show this Friday (Sept 11) at The Brooklyn Mirage! Following your aggressive Labor Day Weekend festivities, the French producer gives us little time to rest - but passing up a Tchami show is unmitigated blasphemy.
So a little background - Tchami seemed to randomly show up about two years ago and completely took the future house scene by storm. During Miami Music Week 2013 - he was the opening slot of the Fools Gold Event; absolutely no one knew who he was. Yet, everyone had been gasping over this mysterious man wearing full priest garb. His style was refreshing and highly hyped - melodic but somehow heavy. Fast forward to last November - when Tchami performed was at Webster Hall. The show could only be described as "complete mayhem", with the entire venue packed from wall to wall until the surprising hour of 4:30am. His energy and sheer power over the crowd was breathtaking. It's easy to get lost among the handfuls of future house DJs currently manning the scene - but Tchami is a true producer and artist. He is leading the movement with his understanding of music, rhythm, and progression - which goes deeper than most. His use of funk and disco tunes throughout his sets guarantee a hell of a good time; check out his classic edit of Oliver $ and Jimi Jules' "Pushing On" or his mind blowing Diplo and Friends Mix to see what I'm talking about.
This particular show is part of the "Afterlife" tour, and takes place at one of the most amazing venues New York has to offer. The Brooklyn Mirage is built only for the summer, and will be taken down within the next few weeks. It's massive indoor and outdoor areas make you forget your among the warehouse community when you walk in. Tiki lights, tall palm trees, food trucks, colossal visual productions, plus an entire indoor warehouse make this location one for the books. If there's one word of advice to ever take from us, here at Daily Beat - its do not miss this show. Tchami puts on one of the best, feel-good, forward performances you'll see all summer - there's really no reason to pass up this one. See you there!
