There is electricity in the air as Bestival’s 10th Anniversary approaches this coming weekend. The widely anticipated UK festival marks the end of Festival season with a bang, showcasing some of the biggest acts to the South Coast.
Curated and founded by Radio 1’s own Rob Da Bank – Bestival brings in over an estimated 55,000 music lovers every year to the small ‘Robin Hill’ country park on the Isle of Wight for the 4 day long Festival. The festival has been held annually during late Summer since 2004.
Acts to be on the look out for this year include: Outkast, Disclosure, Clean Bandit, Kidnap Kid (who’s 2013 debut EP release ‘So Close’ sent his career into an unstoppable forward motion. For lovers of Deep House – this is somebody to watch closely), Skream, Basement Jaxx, Bondax, Klangkarussell, Chvrches, Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip (who will be playing their final show together in the Bestival Big Top), Diplo, Blonde (The Bristol based duo Adam & Jake have been making waves on the UK House scene with their newest single release ‘I Loved You’ and upcoming album release), Sigma, Route 94 and Sam Smith.
But it’s not all about the music with Bestival – as it boasts a wide variety of other activities to keep you occupied in-between acts, such as: The Fancy Dress Disco, Beard & Moustache competitions (judged by Scroobius Pip), Howard Marks (described by the press as “The most sophisticated Drugs Baron of all time” – who will be reciting the poems of Dylan Thomas on the Amphitheatre and will be educating us on the best medical uses for cannabis in the Bestiversity tent), and much more.
Daily Beat’s Liam Simmons & Laurence Howe will be covering the festival in it’s unparalleled entirety and providing you with the latest artist interviews and editorials. It’s shaping up to be a massive weekend.
