Sasquatch! 2013: Preview

Sasquatch! Festival is back for its 12th year, providing the Pacific Northwest with a healthy dose of eclectic music. Stacked with genre transcending talent, the lineup is sure to satisfy any Seattle music lover’s complex pallet. This celebration of musical culture is held at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA. If you’re not hip to the Gorge, it has been host to big name tours from Phish to The Who and is best described as a stage positioned on the ledge of a mini grand canyon.

With performances ranging from English folk-rock band Mumford & Sons to electronic royalty like Steve Aoki, this year’s lineup is as diverse as they come. There is no shortage of British acts making the trip across the pond for this one, newly discovered Alt-J will be present as well as the dubstep aficionado Rusko. Les Claypool and Primus will also be bringing the first-ever 3D-enhanced tour, engaging the entire crowd in an audiovisual experience that could astound even the most cynical CGI nerd. Seattle-based, self-proclaimed thrift-store pimps Macklemore and Ryan Lewis along with fellow Seattleite Ben Gibbard and the Postal Service couldn’t miss this festival when it’s so close to home. There are too many huge names on this lineup to talk about without writing a novel.

Sasquatch! has serious potential to become the festival of the year. With the combination of a breathtakingly beautiful venue and a lineup so diverse that it could well be a product of affirmative action, this gathering is a must for the summer festival season. Check out the festival lineup below.
