Those of you who know me, know that I’m VERY into trance and 90’s house.  What can I say; I’m just about that life.  Which is why I think people are surprised when they learn I have a soft spot for drum and bass.

Over my years of going to shows, I’ve talked to countless number of people and have yet to meet another person who has heard of my favorite dnb artist, S.P.Y.  And that’s why I’m taking time out to write my first article featuring a song rather than an event.

He’s got quite a following in other countries, but has few performances here in America.  I nearly lost it when I heard he was coming to EDCNY last year. To date, that is the only time I have stayed in the front row throughout an entire set.  Which, again, for those of you who know me, know that’s saying something.  What can I say; I’m just not about that front row life.

His track with DJ Marky, Mystic Sunset is the song that first got me into dnb.  I found it so peaceful, calming, beautiful, sublime even that I dove deeper into the genre.

Now one of his newer remixes, By Your Side (VIP Remix) has earned the title as my new favorite.  The song comes in strong with the distinct recognizable drum and bass beat, but don’t let that turn you off if you believe the genre’s not for you.  I dare you to make it to the two-minute mark and not get the feels.  After listening to the song in full, you’ll feel as though you just went through an epic journey of sorts.

This guys seriously needs to make more trips out here to the US.
