Rutherford House: Progressive House Vol. 1

July 29, 2013 -

Rutherford House

With festival season in full swing, the progressive house genre is once again under the spotlight, with some huge releases from big artists as well as promising tracks from up and coming talent. Overall an exciting time for electronic music. This week we bring you seven of our favourite progressive house tunes at the moment. Turn up and enjoy!

First up we have a new preview from the incredible Dutch duo, Vicetone. These guys have only been producing for a year, and the magnitude of their success is incredible. Most famous for their remixes, it is refreshing to see a progressive house act so dynamic in their approach. Tremble begins with a simple orchestral, but progressively turns into a complex masterpiece before smashing into a big room drop that will certainly play a huge part in many of the upcoming festivals. Watch out for release August 5th.

Euphoric and uplifting are two words that describe this track. The relatively unknown Venezuelan producer Blak Lukers has remixed Swedish singer Zara Larsson's new track turning it into a progressive gem. The vocal section is expertly edited creating a beautiful intro before hitting into a melodic drop. Keep a look out for this guy, certainly one for the future.

Paris Blohm is in our opinion one of the most underrated progressive house producers out there. A California native and with relatively little experience, some of the LA based stars recent releases show he is easily one of the producers flying the flag for the progressive house genre. Miracle features melodic synths and overlaying drum patterns breaking into a delightful vocal section and precise drop. Download this track for free! We've also decided to include one of his recent edits which is towards electro house, however definitely one to check out - MASSIVE drop.

This track was premiered by the Dutch master on Friday at Tomorrowland. This new remix takes Ellie Goulding's dance friendly vocals and adds infectious synths and main stage feeling to create a big summer tune. The feel good factor in this one is huge, sort of like Porter Robinson and Mat Zo's 'Easy', but more radio friendly.  Have a listen now!

We couldn't write our first progressive house feature without featuring some Prydz, a legend in the eyes of any Progressive House fan. We could have included any of his amazing tracks, but we think this one is a little less well known. It was released over 3 years ago, yet it's one of those tracks that gets better every time you listen.

This one is not the kind of track to hear on the main stage, but perhaps a small tent with a more intimate connection between the DJ and the crowd. As a remix of Faithless, Eric keeps the ethereal vocal that is so iconic of Faithless but gives a dark twist. The track slowly builds and fades with Prydz's mesmerizing synth work, and at the end we are finally treated to some progressive synth play that the whole track has been working towards. Enjoy!
