Bounce Boat made quite the wake in NYC on the 19th, during that atrocious heat wave that melted the city and all of its inhabitants. The Daily Beat crew was lucky enough to be invited on this incredible moving venue with a one of a kind experience. Everyone that went aboard the ship was lucky to feel the cool sea breeze, while the rest of the city partied in the regular sweatshops we like to call clubs. The boat was filling up with everyone on time and some even early. Showing up fashionably late was not an option unless you were an incredibly strong swimmer, or had a spare raft.
Upon walking in you were given a commemorative rubber bracelet as proof you went and another for a start up company. Obviously everyone wore them, because who doesn't like free bracelets. By the time the boat took off the party was in full swing as we cruised into the sunset ready for the night to begin.
Three levels of madness had every section of the boat pouring music out and loud enough to tease pedestrians from the West Side Highway. It was cool experience to be able to walk from one floor to the next and have the atmospheres be so different in such a confined area.
The bow (front) of the boat held a DJ outside so you could enjoy the skyline, be outside, and be able to party. I was sold from that moment on. While moving around the boat I realized how every other part of the boat had its perks too. The second level allowed you to enjoy bottle service while looking down at the crowd of Manhattanite party-goers doing what they do best, and the bottom floor was where the real party was.
The headliner of the boat, DJ Bambi, a local favorite of all the top clubs in the city went on at about 10pm. The party really kicked off with her and the glowing, fog blasting, robots by her side. Every time I have seen Bambi play she never disappoints. Her skills as a DJ are really just fantastic (a reason why she was flown out the Las Vegas immediately after the boat made it back to shore).
The boat made it back to shore around midnight and its second voyage of the summer came to an end. Don’t worry, if you missed out of this spectacle of a night there is still one more time you can be apart of the Bounce Boat crew on August 23rd. You will definitely be seeing me the next time they set sail. This really is a classic city party that you do not want to miss.
