The good folks down under at Future Classic have really caught our attention in the past couple months. Home to Aussie prodigies Flume, his burgeoning but equally as impressive side project What So Not, and Touch Sensitive to name a few, the label's newest talent, Panama, sound very promising.
Panama is a four piece Australian indie-electronic band fronted by Perth-born songwriter and classically-trained pianist, Jarrah McCleary. Past work include the single "Magic" in March 2012 which was included in their first EP, "It's Not Over," a collection of nu-disco jams, lo-fi pop vocals, and piano-driven electronic beats met with middling success after its release.
Their sophomore EP leads with the anthemic title track 'Always', recorded in San Francisco with and produced by Eric Broucek (!!!, Classixx, Holy Ghost!, Hercules & Love Affair). Panama's second effort is decidedly more composed than the first EP, taking a more downtempo approach while smartening up the songwriting, all while maintaing a catchy and danceable sound.
Stream the entire EP on Bandcamp below, and check out two excellent remixes to the single "Always" from buzzing DJs and Hypem regulars Classixx and Wave Racer.
