This is the third installment of my Playlists of the Week, and this one is dedicated to rainy (or snowy, for those of you not living in California) winter days. The Bay Area has recently been a wet, rainy mess, which is the perfect excuse for staying in and enjoying the comforts of home, and this playlist has been a great soundtrack. I considered making a holiday playlist for this week, but decided this mellow mix would serve you all better in the long run.
This mix features some of my all-time favorite indie artists, like Dr. Dog, Stars, The Mountain Goats, Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver), and Los Campesinos!. They've appeared and re-appeared on every playlist I've made for the past several years, and have some incredible other work as well. Others, like Freelance Whales and Tame Impala, are newer discoveries that I'm pleased to pass on to our readers. Belle and Sebastian are definitely less recent than the other bands, but "Dress Up In You" is one of my favorite songs ever, so I thought its inclusion was necessary. Enjoy, and enjoy whatever weather December has thrown your way.
