Since the Vancouver born Taelor Deitcher released his first record on Dim Mak records way back in 2009, the Canadian has come a huge way in terms of quality releases and his expansion of a crazy fan base. The 'Past Present' EP is a perfect statement to the electronic music world of what is to come and every song is packed with huge punchy bass lines and groovy melodies. With the first song of his new EP being released on July 2nd fans had a great taste of what was to come. Featuring the elegant vocals of KoKo LaRoo, 'Young Love' is another example of why the Canadian was scouted by Steve Aoki for his unique big room sound. One of the biggest songs of the EP, Katsu, features a huge aggressive bass line drop which is contrasted perfectly with soft electro breaks. One of the great things about this release from Cartal is the variety of different tracks within the EP and the third song 'After Dark' is a perfect example of this. Boasting mature chord play, unique composition and summer vibes throughout this whole track is perfectly contrasted with the ethereal vocals of LaRoo. The fourth and final song shows off a dreamy melody with the mesmerizing vocals of Ofelia, this is the perfect track to end an exceptional EP from the Canadian, and the overlays throughout the track are so subtle yet effective. Overall this is one of the hottest releases of 2013 and the unique and delicate composition throughout pays testament to the positive and driven mindset of Deitcher.
