Event Review: Swedish House Mafia at Paris

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to witness the biggest dance act in the industry right now, the Swedish House Mafia, consisting of dance music titans Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell. Although news of their break up and final tour was a huge blow to everyone who loved their music, it did mean that over this tour they wouldn't hold anything back. This was definitely the case when they came to Paris, and  I can whole heartedly say that the trio brought the best of what they had.

Getting to the music, the swedes played a dynamic set, filled with bangers and the perfect mix of classics. I was particularly impressed that they pulled out a bunch of classics courtesy of the three, including tracks such as 'Tell Me Why', 'Together' and the Axwell remix of 'In The Air' which made the crowd go crazy when played. Along with a bunch of other tracks which one would come to expect from a Swedish House Mafia set. It was the perfect mix of throwback songs that made the trio famous in the first place, a bunch of their new stuff and songs that they are trying to promote which were released on their independent labels (Axtone, Size and Refune)

3 ID tracks were played in the set, all of which are in the videos below from their show in the Friends Arena, Sweden. The first being their intro song, the second to be the rumored Steve Angello and Matisse & Sadko song as well as a new song by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike entitled 'Wakanda'. These three tracks can be viewed below:

There has been huge amounts of criticism for these three, saying that they aren't what they used to be and that may be one of the reasons they're breaking up. But I can tell you now that from what I witnessed on Saturday night, the vibe that the trio bring is unparalleled to anyone that I have ever seen before, combining their whole production with the music they play, and their obvious love for the genre to make it into one breathtaking show. So all I have to say, is that if they're coming to a city near you. Then I highly recommend going!
