A weekend to be remembered, nicely done Spades Nightclub! Now you could say I'm bias because I work there but this situation was amazing and I am so proud of Ge Najm and his whole management team on such a successful opening weekend!
Let me paint the picture for you because when you walk into Spades, you have no idea what you are in store for. There are two entrances; one for GA and one for VIP...THANK YOU!!!! Finally a club in Minneapolis with an actual VIP experience! Both entrances tho, are blocked by massive blacked out curtains so you really have no idea what you're getting yourself into. Let me tell you, when those curtains open... you better be ready to go because Spades has really out done themselves!
Never, have I ever, walked into a club and just stopped. I was SO blown away when I walked into Spades! The ceiling is literally dripping in lights. I'm talking 750 LED tube lights hanging from the entire clubs ceiling and each individually programmed so that the ceiling looks like it's consistently moving! Not only are their lights on point, the sound system literally bumps! The club is small...about a 600-700 capacity, so when you have as dense of lighting and sound as the Spades crew has, it is like your own personal concert...with like stadium size effects! A huge round-of-applause to the lighting and sound designer, you nailed it!
Lets take some time and talk about the bars because we all know how important it is to get drinks out and fast. As a bartender there, I can tell you I did not hear one complaint about drinks or the time it took to get them. The only thing I kept hearing was how attentive the bar staff is. This is huge when it comes to a club! I know my biggest pet peeves are a bar lines and slow bartenders. Well this is not something you ever have to worry about when coming to Spades. I think we have a lot of thank you's owed to the epic bar manager Callan! He literally has put together the perfect team to serve you. You can tell that we like working together because we do. I have never worked on a team of more supportive and hard working people as I do at spades. It takes a really good manager to find a group of people who genuinely care about each other and the customers...I fully believe Callan did just that!
Lets talk about the VIP service while we're at it. There is no doubt that this team is run by the best. Trisha is the VIP manager for spades and she has her girls under complete control. This team were pro's out there. Bottles coming out rapidly and all the customers smiling and having an amazing time...a rarity in bottle service on sold out nights. These girls didn't let it phase them and I cant help but believe it has to do with their incredible boss guiding the way. When you meet a Spades employee, you know they mean business! I have never been around such hard working and humble people as I have found working with Spades. So before we even get to the music...just know that there are nothing but good vibes in this house of cards!
Now to the music. I will say, going into the club I was a bit nervous on who would be playing every week. We all know I'm a trap head who is a sucker for anything mad decent but clearly I've been absorbed into one world. Progressive house is still very very huge in the Midwest and this weekend went on to prove that. We had two MASSIVE...back to back nights starting with the Manufactured Superstars. Yes, I'm talking about the guy who started Beatport! He also happens to wear an astronaut suite at every show along with his partner...which I found to be absolutely hilarious! I will say tho, they threw down an awesome set that was perfect for the opening of this new hot spot! I don't think I saw a single person in the club not dancing...which is totally a good thing! The first night ended effortlessly and everyone left beyond happy!
Day two comes around and I honestly didn't think anything could top our opening night. Well...it totally did. Max Vangeli put on a set that could have been at any festival. He brought such a BIG progressive set, I was mind blown! It always makes me happy to hear songs from a couple of years ago and Max knew how to add that special nostalgic moment right when you were getting so pumped on his heavy progressive drops. Then, just like that...BAM, an oldie comes on! The whole club shook with excitement and it literally, blew me away! There was a point when I was behind the bar and I just had to stop and do a little shuffle because the music was just that good! The music did not stop until 25 minutes after close. Even when the lights came up, the room kept going. He had everyone hooked!! It was so beautiful...I could not have been more proud to be apart of the Spades family and what is going to be the newest hot spot in the twin cities!
From amazing lights...to incredible sound...to perfect service, Spades Nightclub is where it is at! The staff is gorgeous and the environment is like nothing I've been in before. Everyone left happier than they came which is often a hard task with hundreds of drunk people...but we did it! After 7 long months of anticipation, I am proud to bring to you...Spades Nightclub, the most epic club in the Midwest! I can't wait to see you all out there! Come join us every Thursday-Saturday for the best drink specials, cheapest hookahs and an all around spectacular experience that is Spades Nightclub!
