Eric Prydz (AKA Cirez D or Pryda), the mastermind behind hits such as 'Allein', 'Everyday','Pjanoo' and '2night' (I would name more but the list is never ending), has graced us with another Essential Mix which was nothing short of amazing. The electronic music scene has received a lot of heat as of late for artists 'dumbing down' their music to be able to appeal more for the masses. This is definitely not the case for Prydz and one can always find solace in listening to him because his tracks are musical genius, constantly blurring the lines between genres and making sure his work is constantly sounding top class. From his amazing melodies and hooks to some of his darker tracks under Cirez D, he's always got the quality locked down.
As for the Essential Mix, the last time he aired a performance was from Creamfields Music Festival in the UK. Picking up from where he left off Prydz starts off the mix with a flurry of unreleased tracks, opening with a never heard single entitled 'Liam'. In fact, not a single released track was played in the whole Essential Mix. A total of 14 unreleased tracks were played including tracks from Prydz's prodigy, Jeremy Olander, showcasing Prydz's dedication in the studio.
I think the US electronic music scene has a lot to benefit from Prydz finally crossing the pond from Europe, with his 'Black Dice' residency in Vegas just announced, as well as headlining Ultra Music Festival, i'm sure he has big things in store. This genre as a whole has started to evolve like other genres have in the past, and Prydz will be one of the frontrunners in pushing it in the right direction. Have a listen!
