Dilla Plugged In - De La Soul (Prod. by J.Dilla)

March 5, 2014 -

Ian Miller

Hip-Hop fans rejoice, two of the most influential and recognizable names in the genre have come together for a perfect mix of old school/new school, sure to be a crowd-pleaser.  De La Soul's debut album "3 Feet High and Rising" was released 25 years ago, and to commemorate this momentous anniversary, they're paying homage to an equally prolific musician, J Dilla.  The beat backing the lyricists is comprised of a boom-bap kick & snare rhythm, with a soulful piano chord progression over it, topped off with radio-caller vocal chops, arranged in a way only a legend like Dilla could.

"Dilla Plugged In" will be released on De La Soul's upcoming mixtape "Smell The DA.I.S.Y." in preparation for the first album the trio has released in almost a decade, "You're Welcome".
