According to Priceonomics.com, a list leaked from Degy Entertainment reveals just how much it would cost to have your favorite band serenade you in your backyard. Some highlights (and questionable listings) include: Dave Matthews at over $1 million/show; One Direction at $150-$250k (though Priceonomics claims this number is closer to $500k-$1 million); and Nickelback at $350-$500k. Nickelback's paycheck is possibly the most heartbreaking on the list; I think anyone reading this article could do more good with that money than they can (obrigado to Portugal for that one).
Anyway, Priceonomics also notes:
...as a reader pointed out, these are asking prices from a third-party booking agency that specializes in college shows; as such, the numbers are likely inflated. Actual prices negotiated by many of these performers are contingent on a variety of factors.
But still. The whole list (which also includes bands of a lower monetary caliber, all the way down to $1,500/show) is pretty insane. Really makes you reconsider the salary gap between your blue-collar family and the New York Yankees.
