Halloween is a time to celebrate the extravagant, the maniacal, the fantastic and the theatrical. Verboten knows how to throw a great party, so it's no surprise they're inviting us to go all out on our favorite night of the year. Wythe Avenue's warehouse venue has made the smart choice of going for enchanting and over the top, rather than gory and haunted house-esque. This time -- with a MASQUERADE BALL. And as if a masked night of fabulosity wasn't enough to arouse our inner monsters-- Verboten has chosen none other than the masked demigod of disco himself: CLAPTONE, to headline the night! As part of his Charmer World Tour, this will be an effortless good time -- and quite the perfect Halloween in my opinion.
Now let's discuss what to expect when attending a CLAPTONE party. First things first, one must understand and embrace the love of FUNK. Not just any funk, that deep seeded groove, the type of funk that vibrates through your veins into your skull; the type you can't help but swing and side step to. Claptone's flavor is purely feel good; at points throughout the night you'll feel short of breath because your heart's about to explode. The masked Berlin hailing disco master has a signature sound of sultry instrumentals, riveting body swaying vibes, and the type of vocals that garner audio euphoria. Check out any of his Clapcasts, remixes, or originals to get preview of the producer's enigmatic presence and musical prowess. My personal favorite is his recent RINSE FM October Takeover Mix.
Lending support will be Henry Saiz, a producer whose keen sense in instrumental electronica constantly challenges the listener to appreciate a variety of fascinating tempos and sounds. He has a much more tribal sound than Claptone, while still keeping underlying garnishes of disco. Check out his remixes of Eekkoo & Flowers and Seacreatures -- you'll soon discover he is a starchier but pleasant complement to Claptone's style. Saiz will be playing a live performance on Halloween night, we're praying he'll drop his epic and gorgeously mastered remix of The Weekend's Can't Feel My Face.
We'll be running face first, or rather...mask first...into Verboten's night-long masquerade spectacle. An event full of surprises -- amazing, marvelous visual wonder and only the finest of auditory galvanization. What type of mask will you be wearing under the glaring beams of the infamous disco ball?
