Funky Folk, Pumping Progression & the Boldest Move in Dance Music Yet!

By Finn Lurcott on March 23, 2013
Last night, whilst thousands of lucky fan's hit the first night of Ultra Music Festival's second weekend at Miami Music Week, music fans all over the world were left to hit the Ultra Live Stream, which streamed live from Daily Beat last night. Staying up till 3am last night to tune into Avicii, I was hit with something very different to what I was expecting. Avicii had let loose before that he would be premiering some of the tracks from his new album, and we were in for something very different. After opening with classic tracks such as Two Million, and Plastik Funk & Tujamo's 'Who', he finished the first half of his set, with an old school original of Etta Jane's 'Something's Gotta Hold On Me', moving into his hit 'Levels'. The lights went down, the crowd looked confused, and Avicii reappeared with a whole host of musicians. We heard track after track from his new album, all featuring live musicians, including banjo, guitar, and vocalists. Even Aloe Black sang on one of his new tracks, before he moved into a fresh collab with Lana Del Ray. This track killed it, with serious feel good vibes!

Hardwell & Showtek vs. Drake - How We Started From The Bottom (MAKJ Ultra Edit)

By Christopher Lavinio on March 22, 2013
Just hours before Weekend Two of Ultra Music Festival kicks off, we have for you an edit from Los Angeles-native DJ / producer MAKJ. With many DJs these days doing quick live edits as part of their sets, we'd figure we share one for the ages. A showstopper in Hardwell & Showtek's 'How We Do' coupled with Drake's 'Started from the Bottom' makes for a great kickoff to Weekend Two of Ultra!

Kaskade Live @ Ultra Music Festival (feat. Daily Beat T-Shirt)

By Christopher Lavinio on March 21, 2013
I watched 19 minutes and 42 seconds of Kaskade's Video at Ultra Music Festival before realizing that we must post post this video. Going into Ultra one of my fellow writers, Brett Blackman was joking about how he was going to be potentially filming Kaskade's set on the main stage with a group of people strapping down gopro's. A few days later, he told us he was actually going to be filming the set thanks to his New York based photographer-friend, Chiara Gerek from EyeWax Films.......
