Tired of hearing the same 128 BPM big room party anthems and wub-wub remixes that clog up your newsfeed? Here’s a refreshing change of pace from New Jersey’s electro/indie rock duo Brick + Mortar, who just released their latest seven song EP on Photo Finish Records. Their gritty, whip-smart sound foregoes guitars in favor of bass, drums, and electronic samples. Brick + Mortar’s lo-fi leanings and garage rock roots reminds me of The White Stripes with a modern indie-electronic influence. To get an idea of what I’m talking about, watch the hyper-violent music video to their undeniably catchy lead single “Bangs” on VEVO and stream five songs from the EP on Soundcloud below. Enjoy!
