I'm starting to realize that, in this day and age, a music video has to be weird for it to be considered good. Pretty much all the new videos I've seen lately have invoked laughter, smiles, and an ultimate feeling of "Umm...what?" This one is a prime example -- Beach House's new video for "Wishes" is absolutely absurd. It's no surprise, though, considering it's directed by Eric Wareheim of the renowned comedy duo Tim & Eric. The entire song is dramatically lip synced by actor Ray Wise as he stands in the middle of a vibrantly lighted football stadium. I can't really describe what's going on in this video, but everything about it is just awesome -- I think my favorite aspect is the continual glimpses we see of the crowd's over-exaggerated reactions to the absurdity taking place on the field. Brace yourself for something weird and unexpected. Check out the video below.
