Afrojack "Performs" 10 Feet Tall on The Arsenio Hall Show

Afrojack has been doing a lot of publicity acts for his new album Forget the World, like the other day I tuned in to 97.1 Amp Radio to hear him doing a one hour guest mix, which I thought was actually pretty cool considering the radio plays Animals every other minute. But then this video came to my attention and...I can't say that I'm very surprised. Just a few days ago, Mr. Van de Wall made an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show to "perform" his hit single 10 Feet Tall.

The crowd was excited, the lyrics were on a screen with cool backgrounds, and the light show was nice. It was a great performance production wise. However, the only "performing" Afrojack was doing was looking down at the decks and lip syncing to the song. Oh and of course yelling out "make some noise" and waving his arms in the air. Nothing out of the ordinary. I could not help but think, though, that Afrojack really got paid to just stand up on stage and press play for 1 song. Not an hour set, not a 15 minute set, no no. Just one single song. He didn't even bring the vocalist with him, which would have made it a little more believable.

But with all of that aside, producers that get booked to play these shows should make more of an attempt to play their music on live instruments, even if it doesn't sound exactly the same. A perfect example of someone who's done this is Zedd, who's performed full acoustic sets on live television. Overall, this video of Afrojack on Arsenio Hall is hardly a performance. But the song is still good nonetheless. Let's hope to see more live instruments next time around.
