Who better to spend this past holiday with than A-Trak and what better place to spend it than the legendary Webster Hall NYC?! As usual, we were escorted up to the fabulous VIP section where it was starting to get a bit crowded, but with private tables sectioned off, it was not a problem to find our own space to dance. With our balcony spots chosen and drinks in hand, we eagerly awaited A-Trak’s arrival.
Starting it off right with Mord Fustang “We are now connected,” he transitioned into the mix with his guest that night, Oliver, “Disco Nap.” Along with the dirty electro bangers being spun all night, he incorporated the genre that seems to be making a comeback: disco. A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of attending the Solidisco “Never Let You Go” release party. So you can imagine our excitement to hear this fellow Fool’s Gold member drop this fresh track. It was so refreshing to attend a show where we didn’t hear the same 5 to 10 tracks we’ve been hearing at shows for the past 6 months now. With neon colors everywhere and amazing acrobats lighting up the Webster sky, we were engulfed by the night as we danced it away. The one really cool thing that we haven’t seen a lot of DJ’s do recently, is that he started freestyle spinning and scratching the decks. His raw talent blasted throughout the hall and his fans got to see this true and talented side of him.
If that wasn't enough, Dave One, lead singer of Chromeo, jammed out on stage behind him, joining him up on the decks a few times. And what better way to end his set then by dropping the hottest and recently released Daft Punk “Get Lucky.” The man has a way with the discs as well as a way with our hearts, making everything he spun sound like a debut.
