Rutherford House: Deep House Vol. 4

December 3, 2013 -

Rutherford House

A selection of some of our favourite deep house tracks over the last few weeks, featuring Hot Since 82's electric Warehouse Project set and a fresh new remix from Gorgon City.

Theres been a fair amount of talk lately about the misuse of the term 'Deep House'; we can certainly vouch that much of the deep house we post is not necessarily Deep House in the purest sense of the term. George Fitzgerald is a name that's frequently mentioned when talking of stomping underground house thats driving energy isn't really very deep at all yet regardless of this we still feel it appropriate to include his tracks in these compilations. This one features repetitive melody that reminds me of a Prydz/Cirez D style track that drives through whilst stripping back and layering on different sounds. Have a listen now.

Although slightly swaying away from the deep house genre, this techno monster is definitely a crowd pleaser. Throughout this track there is a resounding and satisfying beat and tempo which is perfectly complimented with the eerie and upbeat vocal samples that add to the subsence of the song. Hailing from New York, Butane delivers with this bass heavy driven anthem.

This set is huge! We are all massive fans of Hot Since 82, and after this eagerly anticipated Boiler Room session at the prestigious Warehouse Project, the Yorkshireman certainly hasn't let us down. Fresh off his recent North America tour and his release of debut album Little Black Book, the future is certainly bright for  Hot Since 82. Beginning his set with groovy deep house tracks such as Affkt - Soul (feat. Sutja Gutierrez), before slowly building up throughout the 45 minutes, smashing classics such as Marco Faraone, Arado - Strange Neighbors and his remix of Green Velvet's Bigger Than Prince. This is definitely one to check out.

Released back in 2006, this chilled out and infectious track written by acclaimed duo Liquid People is still going strong. Used in many of Will Saul's Ibiza sets, this one can cater for any mood. Enjoy

Bringing some addictive acid lines to your ears is the Swedish Tiger Stripes, whose double release 'Shake That Acid/ The Shadows' bounced onto Beatport at the end of August. Prominent modulated basslines continue through this chilled track as percussive changes bring an exciting feel. Well worth your time!

Now a well known name in the House game, Bicep was the first artist to hook me onto the more underground side of House with releases like Keep Keep and Vision of Love. Keeping his terrain of vibe filled house with vocal stabs and synth pads, undercut by a growling bassline, this one is tasty.

Next up with Wayak a producer we're new to thanks to this new release on 'Love Not Money Records' earlier today. This track has a cool constant melody that makes the track. Its been released on love not moneys records 4th installment in their 'New Love' series; a collection of 20 tracks across various sub-genre's of House from some of the scenes freshest producers.

Gorgon City's recent release 'Ready for your love ft. MK' wasn't particularly to the liking of our ears with a different kind of style which wasn't the gorgon city we knew. However your minds are set back to normal with their remix of 'First Day' by Walden with a thumping bass line with a soothing intro and vocals, give it a listen.
