What happens when a Grammy-nominated and Mercury Prize winning UK post-dubstep singer-songwriter rooms with an acid tripping, free-associating Chicago born rapper-poet? No, this isn't the start to a terrible, over-hyphenated joke. For their most recent cover story, NME is reporting that hip-hop's rookie of the year Chance the Rapper will be moving to Los Angeles this year to live with James Blake, one of London's most critically-acclaimed artists. The two previously collaborated on the remix to Blake's "Life Round Here", which you can view below.
Says Chance on his new living situation:
"I've never lived anywhere other than this house, the one I grew up in in Chicago. It will probably be like being on vacation for the first couple of months. Then I'll start figuring out what kind of music I'll be making ... We're probably going to make a bunch of shit every day. I don't know what we're going to do with it. We might give some shit to other artists. We're getting a compound so we figure we might invite people round to the crib and make some music in the house, then kick them out and bring in some new people."
All I can do is thank the music gods for making this happen.
