As a long time resident in the scene and bass music pioneer, Lorin Ashton known to most as Bassnectar, is a heavyweight in the festival and music arena. Fresh off of a three day sold out run at Red Rocks and playing to massive crowds the past few weekends at sold out festivals EDC Las Vegas and Electric Forest, Bassnectar fans everywhere are buzzing with the release of the much anticipated “Into the Sun” Mixtape. Ashton couldn’t have picked a better time to drop the new tunes as most are still revealing in the afterglow of recent shows or dealing with the infamous ‘post-nectar’ withdraws to no avail. Well worry no more bass fans, in true Bassnectar form, this mixtape will have you back to headbanging and loving life in no time. The release of “Into the Sun” is described by Bassnectar as “a diverse journey through sparkling melodic downtempo to shimmering hype music to mutated indie rock re-cuts to renegade trap house to blistering bass music explosions.”
The 16 track mixtape features several remixes and many collaborations with artist such as G Jones, Lafa Taylor, Zion I, and even String Cheese Incident‘s own Michael Kang. Mixtapes are a well known favorite of Ashton’s as he enjoys the freedom of expression and a less structured, raw approach he is able to infuse into his music without overbearing expectations. Giving older fans a chance to relive the glory days, “Into the Sun” also celebrates the 10 year anniversary of ‘Dubuasca’ with a special revamped 2015 edition and we are loving everything about it. Bassnectar is one of the biggest household names in electronic music and this mixtape is an indication that Amorphous Music is only getting bigger. Staying true to his experimental ways, Ashton keeps fans on their toes with an ever evolving sound that cannot be explained in words but must be rather heard by the ears (preferably loud and with a lot of bass). Check out the mixtape below and enjoy!
