I’ve been a Zedd fan ever since Skrillex took him under his wing. A few months ago I was even lucky enough to meet Zedd after his appearance on the David Letterman Show where he performed his hit "Clarity." After the face to face meet with this music producer - my love grew and sky rocketed to a personal level. The fact that he’s been popping in and out of New York since then has been very exciting. We recently saw him at MTV’s “2013 Artists to Watch” event at Highline Ballroom. This past weekend he threw down not one, but two shows at the legendary Webster Hall. There is no such thing as too much Zedd!
The line outside of Webster was filled with keen ravers as the Grand Ballroom was being prepared for the 23-year-old OWSLA producer. By the time the masses made their way upstairs, Alex Metric was spinnin’ and getting the crowd hyped up for Anton. After mingling around VIP for a bit, we settled down in what we would say was a pretty amazing spot on balcony left. With the perfect view of the stage, and the audience down below, we danced as we eagerly awaited Zedd’s arrival. As the music died down and eventually stopped around 1:45am, we all knew what that meant - Zedd! The audience cheered and chanted as he walked out from side stage; A three beat kick drum transitioned into his all to familiar “Spectrum;” that was fading in an out to give the crowd a chance to sing along, “I will never let you go!” There was not one person in the entire building who thought this set wasn’t astounding. He did an excellent job of mixing it up with Knife Party, Swedish House Mafia, Kanye West, as well as all of his own hits. He even threw in Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” and as he hopped up onto the table we could have sworn we were in a Zedd version of the viral video. A partial track list is listed in order below. As many times as we’ve seen this kid over the last couple of years, he never ceases to amaze! After ending just as he had started with “Spectrum,” Tommie Sunshine took over the decks and provided the perfect end to such an amazing line up of artists. Every Webster-goer there left in a state of electro.
