You Don't Want to Miss Sónar 2017

May 5, 2017 -

Nikhil Gupta

Every June since 1994, Spain's largest Catalan city has welcomed hundreds of thousands of attendees to the behemoth that is Sónar Barcelona. It’s a massive display of musical, audio-visual, and design talent by both established and emerging artists which centers on the interaction between creativity and technology. This year, Sónar runs from June 15-17 and will be spread across two locations. Fira Montjuïc will play host to Sónar by Day and Sónar+D, which are the day-time musical and professional arms of the festival respectively. Every night, the larger DJ and band performances will be staged at Fira Gran Via de L'Hospitalet.

lineup

While Sónar certainly has its share of techno, it would be an injustice to characterize its broad musical program so plainly. With the final line-up now set, the festival will host 9 stages and artists as diverse as Masters at Work, Moderat, Anderson. Paak & The Free Nationals, and Nina Kraviz. The full line up can be seen here.

Not to be missed at Sónar’s day-time congress are the Google R&D team backed showcases on the latest advances in artificial intelligence and virtual reality, Sónar360º immersive "fulldome" audiovisual pieces, and ‘Phosphere’ - a robotic hybrid architecture in which synchronized mirrors, smoke machines, beams of light, and 24 video projectors combine to create an otherworldly spatial experience.

Take your festival experience to the next level. All ticket types – Full Pass, VIP Pass, Professional Accreditation, Day and Night tickets (for both Sónar and Sónar+D) are available here.
