The young tech-house producer (formerly holding namesake in the dubstep genre only a year and a half ago, mind you), has an articulate way of throwing a tech-house set – that it’s truly astounding when you discover the reality of his experience.

At the start of the pandemic, Cordova linked with his best friend, now esteemed manager best known in the scene as STAVO (look for the guy with the wide-brimmed hat and gold frames if you aren’t acquainted with him yet), and fell deep into an obsession to not only learn how to DJ – like ACTUALLY DJ – but do so within a completely new genre.

The once prideful “producer” turned the whole landscape around with his obsession. As a simple fan, our perspective might be limited, but in his sheer talent to throw a damn good LA Tech-House set compounded with his humble and elated demeanor no matter where he might be billed on the lineup – there’s tangible proof offering insight into how this producer continues to get booked across LA’s dance floor. His hard work took notice from LA Tech House’s trailblazers (the variants of the genre goes far too deep to dive into in this article, but we’ll come back to this in the near future), paired with STAVO’s resilient enthusiasm for the scene has paid off big time.

Most weekends you’ll find Cody and STAVO “networking” with their industry peers turned family at some of LA’s most respected warehouse parties. Parties you have to be in the industry to know about, despite the regulars being overwhelmingly welcoming to anyone who walks in those doors and parties alongside them until the sun rises.

And on other weekends, like on the week of his first release “Kitty City” (May 2020) you might find Cody on EDM Maniac’s livestream via Insomniac TV one night, followed by a rooftop set at the W the next, only to be closed out with an impromptu trip to Cabo, Mexico for a festival appearance at Evolove.

With this brief dive and gush over our new favorite up and comer, we are thrilled to be sharing Cody Cordova’s second official house release – “When the Weekend Hits.” The single was released this past Friday on WRHAUZ (STAVO’s very own indie label already building notoriety as an equally fresh venture) and gives us all a much needed extension of the weekend on a Monday.
