Varien shifts toward darker sounds in 'The Wolf' Remix

June 9, 2017 -

Monstercat veteran Varien has been a mainstay in the dubstep scene since 2010. With a discography  that transcends multiple genres, the Tampa product has garnished an audience in both the U.K. and domestically. Most recently, Varien has been seen producing tracks with up and coming producer k?d, moving toward a darker and more ambient sound. His latest release, a remix of the Savoy x Bright Lights collab The Wolf, is a continuation toward that shift.

The buildups of The Wolf feature mesmerizing sub bass and synths that perfectly encapsulate the track's original vocals. The Wolf's dark drop could draw comparisons to recent Nero or Feed Me releases; the American has successfully put his own twist on a formula mostly heard over in the U.K. Here's to hoping Varien continues down the dark path with his production.
