With Australian duo, Vandalism comprised of Andy Van (DJ) and Cassie Van (Vocalist) casually taking the world by storm with their hit single, "Anywhere Else Tonight", feat. Nick Clow, it is only fitting that Beatport has answered the prayers of many DJs by holding a remix contest. A little over a month ago Beatport announced:
This week, Vandalism drops the stems to their track “Anywhere Else Tonight” for our Play remix contest, and the winner is in for something big. Not only will the victor claim a copy of FXpansion’s Geist and DCAM: Synth Squad sample kit and our own Sounds to Sample Elements sound pack, but they’ll also have their remix officially released via Vicious Recordings.
One artist we have taken notice of in the remix contest is Alex Alben. After getting his hands on the released stems of the song, he has given the original a 180 degree change. Alben taking a darker approach, changes the pace from the big room club feel, turning the song into a "minor-toned progressive track with a driving bassline" as he states. Good luck to all the DJs who are participating! While it may not be possible to incorporate Andy's magical mustache or Cassie's killer style, at least you can try to gain their attention by winning this contest.
