The Seattle hip-hop scene is one of the best in the country. In my opinion, Seattle may be the heir-apparent to New York as the premier producer of hip-hop talent in America. With the new popularity of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and The Heist, Seattle and its rappers are hopefully gonna get the recognition from the public that they truly deserve. Few are more deserving of that recognition than The Physics.
The Physics are brothers Thig Natural & Monk Wordsmith and DJ/producer Justo D'Amato. For the past few years they've developed a loyal following among the Seattle faithful, even performing with Seattle's finest such as the Blue Scholars and Macklemore. Monk and Thig Nat are The Physics' main MC's, and they're great on the mic together. I'm not sure if it's the fact that they're brothers or something else, but these two have a great chemistry that really shows when they perform live. Justo is no slouch on the mic either, as he shows on a couple of their songs like the "The Session." From a production standpoint, Justo's beats range from pure jazz to electronica and are sure to please listeners of different tastes. Also, these guys are phenomenal live, take it from me.
In my mind The Physics are one of the best hip-hop groups in the country; I just wish more people knew about them. However, if Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have taught me anything, it's that the cream can still rise to the top. Hopefully it won't be too until The Physics reach that same level of success.
