Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs & Jimmy Edgar to Take Over Verboten [8.7.15]

This Friday Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, aka Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom (killer name, right?) will be rocking the walls of Verboten along with electro-techno prodigy Jimmy Edgar - basically one of the most awe-inducing lineups we've seen in a while. So what can one expect when walking through the doors of Verboten this weekend?

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, abbreviated T-E-E-D, started DJing at the young age of 13; by 2009 he had officially launched his artist production project. The name "Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs" was meant to be a parallel parody of the grandiose underground music scene. Completely overblown and bombastic, extinction being the furthest thing from "relevant".

Higginbottom (still not tired of saying that) is best known for his work on "Get Lost IV", released on Crosstown Rebels. The compilation, curated and mixed by TEED himself featured works from revered artists such as Tiga, Breach, Matthew Jonson, Axel Boman, and more. The collection of tracks was named "Best Compilation of 2013" by DJ Mag's Best of Britain, and featured an original collaboration by TEED and fan-favorite Eats Everything called Lion, The Lion.

His more recent work includes a famed, more well known collaboration with our boy Dillon Francis, called Without You, in which TEED offers both production and warm, gliding vocals to the heart warming track. Last August, Higginbottom launched his own label, titled Nice Age, whose first release was a TEED X ANNA LUNOE collab called Feels Like (talk about an emotional journey of a track). This Friday Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs will be bringing the synthy-house vibrations Verboten as been yearning for.

And let's not forget Jimmy Edgar. Ah, Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy...production mastermind, artist, prophet, time-traveler, divergent spectrum splitter - best known as the software-wizard-synth-techno prodigy who famously signed with Warp records at the age of 18. Any DJ who spins techno will vouch that Jimmy Edgar is the best of the best, a top shelf producer whose tracks are featured in just about every performance you've seen over the  last decade. Born in Detroit, and currently residing in Berlin (geographic dreams!), the 29 year old artist has proven himself the king of sound manipulation. Expertly finessing with ticks and turns using modular synthesis with digital technology - within every system you can ever imagine, Edgar's encompassing obsession with the electronic sound is evident in his production and performance. He is a completely fascinating individual whose passion is tangible upon his presence.

To get a feel of Jimmy's supreme style, check out one of the three mixes he's put out through Rinse FM this year; or my personal favorite, his 2014 HARD Mixtape (so damn good). He's not one to ever disappoint.

Also lending support will be Chris Patrick, an NYC based producer whose been gaining traction with his positive, disco funk flavor. His consistent work with SOUP MUSIC NYC has made him a household name in the underground scene; and with good reason, this guy is not playing around. Check out his latest release with Love & Logic, Disco's Over.

Dance on my friends, see you Friday!
