Henry Fong seems to have a thing for collaborations recently. Building on his successful venture with Deorro and Elvis Crespo on the song “Pica”, Fong has this time teamed up…
Traditionally known for his wild antics on social media and even craziers songs, one of our favorites Dillon Francis kept us guessing with his latest release "Without You", a collaboration with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs that showed the more heartfelt side of the Los Angeles based producer. Yesterday, Mad Decent released a remix EP for the very same single showing that there are always more than one way to drop a beat.
Currently sitting on a Top 5 spot on Beatport, MAKJ & Henry Fong have a lot to be proud of. With releases such as Springen, Hakaka, Revolution, and of course Countdown, Mackenzie Johnson can definitely take this year's crown for biggest breakout DJ/producer of 2013, at least in my eyes. Add to that the intrinsic attention to detail of Henry Fong's productions (Hot Steppa, to name the latest) and you're bound to get another taste of big-room electro madness. The two certainly attained this with the release of their latest collaboration, Encore, yet the music video takes the production a step further. Upon pressing play, you will be transported to a modern/futuristic Japan that deals with ending relationships, the need for revenge, and romance with dolls(?). I must admit I was a bit thrown off by this video, and am still a little confused as to what the message of it was, if any. I guess I'll just have to trust in Henry Fong's Warning: "Don't Fall For a Sex Doll."
We had a great interview with Henry Fong at the Dada Land Compound this past month in Philadelphia's XFINITY Live! Henry enlighten's us on the benefits of his college DJing experiences, and how it has helped him rock today's crowd. He also talks about some of his recent collaborations with the likes of Mike Hawkins and Toby Green on the new track "Hot Steppa". Check out the interview below!
