The London native Grime MC and all round badman Skepta exclusively announced in April that he'd be bringing in another big rapper for a Shutdown remix. Following the release of Shutdown in March earlier this year - the track received attention from a lot of notable rappers and celebrities alike.
"Basically a lot of people have asked to jump on Shutdown remix, i'm not gonna front" - Skepta. (2015). The Norte Show
Amongst these potential candidates for the Shutdown Remix was British actor Idris Elba - who posted a video of himself rapping along to 'Shutdown' on Twitter, sending it directly to Skepta with the caption "put me on the remix!!!"
This seems like the kind of unrealistic collaboration that dreams are made of, but dream no more - as Skepta delivers. Elba comes in hard dropping some serious bars; "I'm slapping my dick into them faces" - This is a side of Idris we haven't seen, and I like it.
Previously, we have seen Idris working with the likes of Fatboy Slim, and alongside a variety of different artists from all backgrounds. Last week, he took to Snowbombing Festival in Austria to spin tracks in an igloo alongside Carl Cox, Skrillex & more. What more can we expect to see from this Jack of all trades? I'm personally holding out for an Elba B2B with James Zabiela set. That'd be something.
