Rutherford House Vol. 21

September 29, 2014 -

Oscar Hoyle

Selection of some of our favourite tracks of the end of the summer, with a few undiscovered gems included. Features downtempo stalwart David August, a jackin house masterpiece from Chris Gresswell and a fresh production from Sweden's techno giant Adam Beyer. Enjoy

Recondite - Caldera EP

Released on Scuba's Hotflush label, Recondite's EP is a dazzling selection of production genius. The first track is a subtle, spacey and sometimes dramatic 9 minute piece, whilst the second is more imposing with a greater sense of energy.

Hot Since 82 - Somebody Everybody ( Olivier Giacomotto Remix )

House giant Hot Since 82's recent release on his brand new label Knee Deep in Sound 'Somebody Everybody' has been given a darker and tougher edge through the remix of Frenchmen Giacomotto. The original ethereal vocals remain intact throughout with the buildup before the second drop particularly majestic.

Mostfa & Mostfa - Armageddon

Hailing from Cairo, Egypt this young trance duo is part of the Middle Eastern countries exponential increase in trance producers, with the most famous Aly & Fila showcasing local talent on their record label The Future Sound of Egypt. Packed with uplifting chords and mountainous riffs this track is a must listen.

Pax & Hannah Magenta - We Can Evolve feat. Hannah Magenta (Anie Remix)

German producer ANIE remixes UK talent Pax's We Can Evolve, injecting a dreamy feel to the track which compliments the original vocals by Hannah Magenta.

Sonny Fodera & Cervendos - Let's Go

Australian house star Sonny Fodera collaborates with Hungarian producer Cervondos to release this gritty and groovy tune on London's famous Defected Records.

Coyu featuring Cari Golden 'Profound Pleasure'
Another gem of a release on Defected Records in the form of Spanish producer Coyu's Profound Pleasures. This seductive house track features heavy bass kicks, and eerie and captivating vocals from Cari Golden.

Disord3r - Leave The World Behind

Huge release from English bass house stalwarts Disord3r, featuring a heavy jackin house feel and dirty house vibes. Must listen.

The Thrillseekers - This Is All We Have (ReOrder Remix)

With the original being one of the trance releases of the year, I didn't think any remix could do itself justice. However Slovakian trance giant ReOrder has injected a more uplifting and powerful feel to this euphoric production.

Dave Dunn & Chris Gresswell - Jungle Guy

Over a year old, this bass house gem from two of the UK's freshest underground talent features hard hitting basslines, and a groovy jackin house beat.

Adam Beyer - Teach Me

Swedish techno giant Adam Beyer has just released his latest EP titled 'Teach Me', with his headline track boasting the same name. Beginning with eeries chords the track builds momentum, with a distinctive uplifting vocal sample that sways in and out, before dropping into a rumbling hectic techno track.

Finnebassen - Touching Me

The Norwegian king of downtempo house music has just released one of the BBC Essential Mix's of the year, showcasing some of his own music as well as other gems. Over 2 years old, Touching Me features seductive vocals and a chilled out rolling bassline throughout.

David August - Epikur

Berlin producer David August delivers here with a beautifully crafted, uplifting yet modest creation. Picked out by Sven Vath as one of his tracks of 2014.

Moderat - Bad Kingdom (Marcel Dettmann Remix)

Uplifting techno track from on of Berlin's greatest producers. Dettmann explores the vocals of this track whilst still maintaining his distinctive sound. Perfect 5am track.
