Rutherford House: Trance Package Vol. 1

Rutherford House

Trance is a genre that originated in the early 90s, with Germany being key to its development. Paul Van Dyk for example was a German pioneer that really developed the sound and gave it some commercial exposure. As it developed Trance incorporated elements from Classical, Pop, House and Techno, developing into the vast array of sounds that it now presents itself as today. With the recent EDM explosion, many of the big Trance figures like Armin van Buuren took some sort of shift towards a sound that incorporated house elements (for example in his latest artist album Intense), and other artists like Tiesto took leave to pursue other genres. You might be mistaken for thinking that as a consequence Trance is a dying genre but you could not be more wrong, with a thriving culture of sounds as varied as that within the house scene, catering to everyone's tastes. This package will share some of the new talents that are releasing amazing work, as well as a few older tracks from artists we have loved for much longer. Give it all a listen, even if you aren't into trance and we're sure you'll find some tracks you love.

This first track comes from Myon & Shane 54. Hailing out of Budapest, this duo are perhaps best known for their amazing 'Summer of Love' Mixes of songs ranging from Trance classics to pop hits. Personal favourites are their mix of 'Promises by Adain', and of Markus Schulz's 'Love Rain Down'. This track is a collaboration with Seven Lions, taking the best elements of each of their sounds, with the ethereal vocals and lush chords of Myon & Shane 54, and the glitchy Dubstep of Seven Lions. The end result is a ridiculously catchy banger with that main stage festival feel.

If there was any single English artist that we thought was producing incredible Trance it would definitely be Adam Ellis. His sound is on the harder and faster end of the Trance scale with huge rolling bass lines and acid lines, amounting to a massive amount of energy in each track. Coming out of Sheffield, his sound is only getting better and better and he is definitely an artist to keep an eye on, as he climbs higher and higher in the ranks of Trance producers and DJs.

Andrew Bayer is producing so many different styles at the moment that it's impossible to say what his next release will sound like, and this new club mix of 'Need Your Love' from his album 'If It Were You, We'd Never Leave' if absolutely huge, melding Progressive house and Trance sounds in a way that few do successfully. Featured as Record of the Week on Above & Beyond's Group Therapy Radio Show, the build through atmospheric chords into the piano driven break is amazing, before the track explodes into brilliance, enjoy.

Dash Berlin is on fire right now and with a new remix from one of Trance's upcoming talents, Andrew Rayel the number 7 DJ has had an eventful summer. Fresh from releases 'Steal You Away' and 'Jar Of Hearts' the Dutch trance legend has handed remix duties to Moldovan trance prodigy Andrew Rayel. This track begins with a bass heavy trance driven sound with the overlapping dreamy vocals of Sarah Howells, continuing on into a phase of simple euphoria. The song then smashes into a section of beautiful uplifting trance which personally makes the track what it is and what Rayel is so renowned for. Make sure you check this one out.

Only released a few days ago on Armada Music, Euphoria by Belarus/Russian duo Eximinds is definitely one of our favourites out of recent releases by Van Buuren's record label. Beginning with a slow yet imminent progressive melody, this track breaks down into a unique euphoric uplifting section before smashing into a euphony of carefully produced trance that simply lures you in. Take a listen.

This last group is one we hold very special to our hearts, having, at least in our eyes, never produced a track that isn't amazing. Their emotional and resonant tracks are adored by millions the world over, and 30 million tune in every week to hear their radio show. Instead of posting one of their most famous tracks, such as Sun & Moon, or Thing Called Love, this track is slightly less well known but just as beautiful, featuring Zoe Johnston's stunning vocals, inducing euphoria every time it is heard. Take a moment to stop everything you are doing and play this track with your eyes shut. You will not be disappointed.
