Rutherford House: Bass House Vol. 3

September 25, 2013 -

Rutherford House

The three of us have been extremely lucky to have seen such a variety of different genres in the music industry this summer, but bass house is almost certainly up there as one of our favourites. With such a difference and uniqueness about many of the releases in this sub genre of the wide and ever growing dance music bracket, we find new and unheard sounds regularly. For this weeks package we have some of our favourite recent releases, including a new remix from Taiki and Nulight and a huge track from Gorgon City. Enjoy

Big tune here! Birmingham bass house prodigy Hybrid Theory takes Rektchordz and Sean Declase's soulful anthem Higher and converts it into a crunching aggressive bouncy bass tune with apparent ease and flow. The first drop features a groovy bassline followed by a section of beautifully edited vocal section before again smashing into the upbeat last few seconds. You can also check out Chris Gresswell's remix of this track here, featuring more Jackin' influences.

British Bass house giants Gorgon City have been on fire recently with some seriously hot new tracks and remixes. However today we've got one of their older tracks for you, featuring the vocals of Jess Mills this song turns into something else when the drop comes. The signature Gorgon City sound arrives, bassline and heavy kicks prominent. With an Australia tour coming up early next year this duo certainly have a bright future ahead.

This track is slightly different to our usual Bass offerings, maybe because we're still holding onto that sun kissed summer sound! 'Feeling' gives us that with a melodic feel and catchy vocal sample cuts. This melodic feel won't come as too much of a surprise if you know that Meramek is the deeper alias of Anjunabeats' Oliver Smith. Showcasing his ability to work the floor across genres to great effect. Enjoy!

You undoubtably all know Breach's track, which became something of a staple tune in DJ sets across all genres. Now Taiki & Nulight give it the bass line treatment with a big energy injection in the first drop helped along by the pitch shifted vocals. The second drop feels bouncier and a little sexier, wrapping up a huge release from the bass line kings. Enjoy!

South London based Celsius, has built quite a name for himself over the past few years, releasing with Jaymo & Andy George’s reputable, Moda Black, imprint, as well as remixing for Anjuna Deep, and picking up BBC radio support from Skream, Annie Mac and Pete Tong. Combining swung garage and  percussion he has produced a ear-catching sound that will most likely be ringing your head for a couple of days. Keep an eye out for this one.

Last up displays how such a simple beat can become such a class tune. New York Transit Authority once again come out with a tune which fails to disappoint with a heavily bass driven song. Keep an eye on the release date due 30th September '13 on Lobster Boy Records.
