Roland Corporation announced yesterday, as first reported by FACT, that one of its most beloved products, the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer, will seemingly be made available soon. As the company behind many classic drum machines uploaded a YouTube video yesterday, it suggested that a remake or a re-release of the desirable product is on the horizon.

The video gives a brief overview of the 808′s story, before ending with the statement that it’s time for the company to “take the next step” with the classic machine, only suggesting that 2014 will be the year for the 808 comeback. The Roland TR-808 was first introduced during the 1980s and helped shape the sound of hip-hop, synth pop, and dance music. Definitely watch the video below and be sure to check back for updates from Roland.
