Musical producer and artist RL Grime, who is part of the artistic collective WEDIDIT and also produces under the name Clockwork, may have just dropped the most breathtaking song of the year, entitled Aurora. RL Grime hit us with a tear-jerkingly beautiful harmony, alongside a simple yet powerful GoPro video taken from a weather balloon. The song starts of with soft harmonies and mystical vocals. As the balloon and the GoPro ascend into the sky, the build up ascends in parallel. The drop resembles the purest form of unique musical artistry that you will ever experience, filled with snare rolls, synths, and bass that all mesh together to form a foreboding yet action-packed track. Warning: you will have goose bumps, and you might cry.
Explicitly noticeable in Aurora and his most recently released album entitled ‘Void,’ RL Grime constantly strives to sweep his listeners off of their feet by dropping unexpected melodies that truly expand on what kind of artist he is. Many people may call him “the trap king,” but RL Grime’s music demonstrates too much complexity to be pigeonholed into a genre, and Aurora genuinely exemplifies the creative intellect that he holds.
