As a true House fan who has met the huge rise of 'EDM' with a mixed response, I have had a very love/hate relationship with Trap music. Where as I instantly fell in love with the rhythms of recent genres such as Moombahton, after hearing my first Trap record I was not impressed, even playing some of the tracks to my friends and laughing at what I believed to be pathetic attempts to combine American Hip Hop, with beautiful electronic music. I have to say how wrong I was, and as more and more of the tracks I loved began to spurt trap remixes, I found myself actually digging the extensive Roland-808 snares, and swaying beat of Trap. I remember telling a couple of my mates that I thought trap music could only be for people who were too cool to take on the energetic dancing of House, because being a British guy who never really got into the whole US Hip-Hop scene, I'd never really grown to appreciate the actual genre of Hip-Hop, laying it off as simply guys chatting shit over music. After watching Zane Lowe drop track after track at the Ministry of Sound, many with Trap music, I realised how much funkiness and sexiness it could bring to a dance floor, and with so many ideas in the House Scene being recycled in track after track, the Trap scene is really something very fresh! This track I have for you today comes my fellow Brit XXTRAKT, alongside Houcemate from Belgian, with a very funky sound, similar to that being used by the top producers in the game, Baauer and Flosstradamus. What I love about Trap tracks like this, is that they still retain a true electronic feel to them, with the the Trap beat supplementing their groove, rather than being too drum heavy, and sounding like an actual Hip-Hop beat. This ones been released by the quickly rising 'All Trap Music' label. Have a listen!
