Merging the best of two powerful cultures, the British-American duo Ready, Steady, Die! has cultivated a one-of-a-kind sound throughout their career. Made up of London-based Sam K and New York native Morgan Visconti, this pair lit up the chill electronic music scene during the entirety of 2022. In January, they kicked off the year with their sophomore album, Accidents, which was an auditory masterpiece full of mystery and beauty.
Also known for their visual creativity, Ready, Steady, Die! never fails to deliver breathtaking music videos for their tracks. In fact, "Kiss It", a song from their second compilation received an award at the LA Comedy Film Festival and was directed by well known director Max Clendaniel. Following up on the extreme success of Accidents, the duo has decided to release their Christmas rendition of The Kinks' iconic single, "Come Dancing".
Speaking out on the cover anthem, Sam and Morgan share, “we wanted to channel the eighties which is the era we grew up in, doing a cover of a cheerful eighties pop song but taking it to the darker side of that decade. Early Human League, Soft Cell, and even TV show themes from the eighties were a big inspiration. The sound of concrete tower blocks and parking lots. 'Come Dancing' was a song that was on our radios growing up and when we listened to it and stripped it back to the melody and lyrics it felt profoundly sad and nostalgic.
Ready, Steady, Die!'s version of "Come Dancing" embodies mesmerizing piano progressions and heavenly vocals from Morgan. It is accompanied by a calming music video that displays numerous groups of people blissfully dancing. This combination takes the listener on a euphoric journey while putting the pair's rare talents on display.
