Well well well, what have we here? It appears that Kavinsky is back with the same electrified 80s infused dance music we have grown to know and love. After seeing Drive, I think that everyone understood how unique Kavinsky's music is. It basically combines a few different decades of music into something that has never existed until now. This delightful ear-candy never gets old and he has FINALLY come out with a new track.
The Drive soundtrack was not the first place I heard Kavinsky, but it really enhanced my experience with his music. I think there is something to be said about the colors in that movie combined with the cars and Ryan Gosling. He's an all around bad ass in the movie (how many words does he even say, like 15?).
The electric guitar plays a huge role in Kavinsky's new release, "Protovision". He proves that electric guitar has a place in dance music. The synth work is stellar as always. I love the granular distorted tone that he uses. It really makes you feel like you are driving at night on the pacific coast.
Don't worry! There is a 3 minute cinematic music video that accompanies this song in which Kavinsky stars as a speeding Testarossa driver attempting to outrun the police in an old school letterman jacket. Also, the cop car is an old mustang. Also, he kills a guy at the end.
I'll post the video and the sound cloud because the video is mixed differently.
This video was released just today (December 10th) so check it out before everyone else does!
