Glaswegian electro-pop trio CHVRCHES makes music that has something for everybody. Whether you’re musically inclined toward dance-y synthpop beats, magnetic female vocals, or catchy and sincere lyrics, their sound is highly accessible and easy to latch onto. In a time when electronic music dominates the airwaves, CHVRCHES is a new brand of superstar that merges the sounds and styles of proto-EDM pioneers like The Knife with the pop sentiments of artists like Passion Pit. The result is a radio friendly act, embraced by the indie crowd and mainstream alike, that invests just as much energy into songwriting as it does making you dance.
Does anyone else notice the resemblance of this song and Reload by Tommy Trash & Sebastian Ingrosso? Because I do. But I'm not saying that's a bad thing - this track definitely holds its own, and you can hear the combined elements Axwell and Hook N Sling put forth in creating it. I'm pretty excited for this track, and also very intrigued by the title of it. "Tokyo By Night" puts you in an atmosphere of fast cars, bright lights, and no sleep. So I start this post with one simple question: am I really reviewing Selena Gomez's new album Stars Dance? The twenty-one year old Disney Channel star released her first solo album (via Hollywood Records) this past weekend that is currently streaming on iTunes and features what else but typical dance beats coupled with a little bit of heartbreak! It's funny how we have immediate questions when pop stars release albums such as Taylor Swift. The first thing we always wonder is, "what guy is each song about?" Well, with Selena's new album, there isn't any doubt. Most of our sources and fellow media reports have laid it out fairly simple for us: BIEBER.
