Oliver Heldens Launches Remix Contest Under Techno Alias HI-LO

Dutch DJ Oliver Heldens takes a stride into darker sounds under his techno alias, HI-LO. The title of his alter ego is a palindrome for his name. In 2015, launching his label Heldeep Records led to revealing himself as being the producer behind HI-LO.

His latest record ‘Athena’ has been released under Octopus Recordings- a LA-based modern techno imprint label founded by DJ Sian. Embracing modern techno and unusual sounds, Octopus Recordings adheres to an avant-garde style of club culture- driving and embracing an ecstatic atmosphere.

Oliver Heldens partnered with Octopus Records to launch a huge remix competition for the release of ‘Athena’. The winner’s remix will be featured on the official Athena remix package, alongside techno heavyweights Ramon Tapia and Alex Stein.

Announced on Oliver’s official Instagram page, developing producers can download the stems to begin creating their remix by signing up to the official Octopus Recordings Discord page and submitting their entries as Soundcloud links via the same page.

The final submission deadline for entries is Sunday, February 28th. However, if participants are able to deliver a draft entry early enough, Oliver and Octopus head honcho Sian will be holding two LIVE listening feedback sessions on the new Octopus Recordings Twitch channel at 12p.m. PST on February 2nd and on February 16th.

Readers interested in participating in the contest can submit their remixes here:

The winner will be announced at a special listening event on Sian's Octopus Recordings Twitch Channel on March 9th. The remix package is set to release a week later, on March 16th.
