The Los Angeles bass duo Nightowls have dropped the latest in their impressively heavy catalogue of club tunes, this time with some help from hip-hop artist Brewski and Dim Mak's New Noise imprint.
'Blacked Out' is as dark as it is powerful with a refreshing slap of futuristic sound design that ventures into half-time territory rather than the usual house-tempo that we are used to seeing from the duo. The track is a great cross-over between the EDM and hip-hop world because of Brewski's ability to speak on the concept of a "rockstar" lifestyle. We are used to hearing of rappers waking up next to beautiful women and expensive cars after long nights of partying, but in 'Blacked Out' we're hearing what it would be like to wake up at the main stage, a line that almost directly relates to the life of a powerful and party-hungry DJ.
If the theme of this track is to drink so hard that you black out then we could definitely imagine it fitting in the context of someone on the dance floor just as much as it fits the blacked out DJ who is on stage. Whatever Nightowls is trying to say we could easily imagine this one starting riots in the middle of an intoxicated dance floor at any club that it might be heard at.
If you are interested in turning up to this extent then we would reccomend catching Nightowls on their upcoming Spring Break tour at any of the dates below.
