Night Drive - Where I End And You Begin (Radiohead Cover)

The mystical future groove duo Night Drive released their cover and music video for Radiohead's Where I End And You Begin earlier this month. As a die hard Radiohead fan I was extremely impressed to see them take on this challenge because out of the entire Radiohead catalogue this track has to be in my top 5. Its hypnotic rhythms and eerie ambient textures push the track with a constant increase in tension. The structure is not something dance worthy but the chords and vocal melodies definitely have a catchy element to them.

Night Drive interprets this into a nu-wave jam with their cover. The bass line now carries a fat analog tone with a repetitive groove that feels worthy of an LCD Soundystem record. Rather than Jonny Greenwood's frantic guitar weeps and woos, we're treated to more synthetic ambient sounds that dance perfectly with the bass and drums.

This is a really powerful track and its awesome seeing these guys record their own vocals as opposed to trying to filter out the original for a remix. It's one thing to see a band cover an old song live but seeing some electronic producers recreate such a tune is truly inspiring.
