Just when you thought Kaskade's Automatic had reached an extreme number of plays in your daily music rotation since its release last week, in comes a remix of "Disarm You (feat. Ilsey)," produced by Canadian newcomer DIMES.
The original track is a romantic reflection of Kaskade's evolution away from his signature, progressive style. It starts with a verse free of percussion, building into a bouncy hook that's in-line with the demands of any festival main stage.
DIMES emphasizes Ilsey's thoughtful vocals by adding a slow-moving piano riff to the verse. Then, Tchami and Amtrac come to mind as the track moves into an addictive chorus. A familiar synth is in place, displaying the producer's tendency to take risks – but surprisingly, it isn't overdone. To a majority of fans, it's a clear and welcome fact that Ryan Raddon has joined the realms of a more contemporary style of house than what he's played in the past ("future house," anyone?). DIMES pays his respects to the dance music legend by maintaining Ryan's current style.
You might find it hard to believe that DIMES is fresh to the scene. His "Disarm You" remix has under 5,000 plays, and his Facebook page barely touches 300 likes. If Kaskade doesn't play this remix at any of his upcoming shows this October, we might have a problem. I predict a massive 2016 for this humble artist.
